Sync Okta Groups to Smartsheet
Configure Push Groups in Okta to make changes in your Okta directory and then push those updates to your Smartsheet Contact groups so you can keep your directories in sync.

You must also hold Admin permissions in Okta to complete the configuration.
Use group push in Okta to create Smartsheet Contact groups and simplify group management in Smartsheet. Centralized group management via group push automatically synchronizes user groups between Okta and Smartsheet, so your Smartsheet user groups are always up-to-date with your user directory in Okta.
This process ensures the security of your Smartsheet environment. When users are added to or removed from groups in Okta, their access to resources in Smartsheet is automatically updated, reducing the potential for unauthorized access.
Things to know
- Understand your directory structure. Review your user directory structure in Okta and consider how you want it reflected in Smartsheet.
- Know your groups in both Okta and Smartsheet. Identify which groups you want to sync with Smartsheet and select only those relevant for Smartsheet access and collaboration.
- Don't make changes to user group memberships in Smartsheet. Those change will be overwritten during the next sync.
- Don't enable SCIM for groups in Okta that don't require access to Smartsheet.
Set up Group Push in Okta
- In Okta, go to Applications > Applications and select Smartsheet SCIM.
- Select Push Groups.
- From the Push Groups dropdown, select Find groups by name.
- Search for the group by name and select it.
- Select Create Group and then select Save. The new group should now show as Active.
